This week Sun Prairie Rotary welcomed fellow Rotarian and Sun Prairie native John Sheehan, President of the UW Health American Center. John gave an overview of the new center that opened this year and is located near American Family.  The 56 bed facility was built in response to growing population in Sun Prairie and the east side of Madison.  There was also a need for UW to have a location that could primarily focus on elective type surgeries for the health and well being of the community.  55% of the positions at the center are newly created, offering job growth in the area.  The center was designed with input from patients and their families. It includes an emergency department,  lab, pharmacy, imaging services and specialty clinics.  There is room for a 28 bed expansion in the future. The facility is also dedicated to being a green facility and serving health food options.
