This week we heard from Clint Cry of Wisconsin Public Power, Inc. (WPPI).  WPPI  is a not-for-profit, regional power company serving 51 locally owned electric utilities. They serve 200,000 customers and are community owned. They supply power to the Sun Prairie Utilities, which is a community owned power company.  Energy efficiency programs are available for the consumer and for business.  Due do these programs, $1.5 million has been saved since 2010.  Incentive programs such as energy efficient appliance rebates and proactive monitoring have contributed to these savings.

Nick Voegeli and his son, Luke, also presented about Luke's pursuit to eventually become part of an Olympic Luge team.  Luke is one of ten from 1000 applicants chosen to attend a 5 month training program that includes time in Lake Placid, Calgary and Park City.  He is the only Wisconsin candidate.  If you are interested in learning more about Luke's story and how to contribute to his fundraising goal of $10,000 to pay for this training, visit lukevoegeliusaluge.com.

Other Rotary moments:
  • Thank you to everyone who helped this week at Sunshine Supper.
  • Books for the World will be occurring November 14.  See Rose Freidel if you are interested in being part of this effort.
  • World Polio Day is October 23.  This is another opportunity to get involved in a good cause.  Contact Rose for more information.
  • Fireman's breakfast is Sunday, October 11.  Contact Steve Riggles if you are available to help serve breakfast.  You can also attend and enjoy this fun and free community event.
Just a reminder, if you deliver meals on Thursdays, please remember to check the schedule (posted on clubrunner homepage and emailed to drivers).  There have been several weeks when the driver doesn't have it on their calendar and other Rotarians and community members have had to do a last minute fill in.  If you can't deliver meals on your week, please let the Colonial Club know as soon as you can and they are happy to find a backup driver.  Thank you!

Have a great weekend.  See you Tuesday.
