Teaching Sex Education in Africa
- Born in Mogadishu, Somalia.
- Studied in Quranic school at age 7.
- Went to regular school at age 9.
- Left for Egypt at age 10 for school
- At age 17 went back to Somalia after graduating from high school.
- Got scholarship to the USA.
- Studied at UCLA Pre-pharmacy
- Transferred to the university of New Mexico.
- Graduated with BS in Pharmacy and BA in Chemistry
- Attended graduate school in hospital pharmacy at UW
- Went to dental school at Marquette
- Graduate with DDS in 1975.
- While in dental school I Worked as a pharmacist at UW Hospital in Madison and Deaconess Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee
- Worked as a dentist for for the state of Wisconsin Department of Health and Correction
- Taught at Matc in the dental auxiliaries programs since 1976
- Became chairperson of Dental auxiliaries
- Became the dean of health occupations
- Became the administrative dean of health, human and protective services
- Became Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Learners Success
- I was Rotary West member
- I had 4 of my daughters joined the Rotary youth exchange: 2 to France and 2 to Brazil
- Retired from the college in 2010
- All the while I maintained private practice
- Did leadership training programs at UW and Harvard
- Did mission work 3 times in Honduras, 1 time in Belize and 4 times in Kenya
- I have 8 children college graduates and 10 grandchildren
- Currently I work 3 days for Forward Dental
