Rotary One Summit

Attention All Enthusiastic Rotarians!

Saturday
October 7, 2017

Wilderness Resort
Wisconsin Dells

9:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • Is your club finding it challenging to retain current and attract new members?
  • Are you frustrated with attempts at having non-Rotarians in your community hear about the good work of Rotary in your community and in the world?
  • Are you looking for ways to engage your members in Rotary’s work throughout the world through the Rotary International Foundation?

JOIN other Rotary LEADERS from our District as we EXCHANGE IDEAS and TAKE ACTION on actual proven ideas on how to energize and bolster your club for growth, service and public interaction.

Why attend?  A much-used description of Rotary these days is “Join Leaders, Exchange Ideas, Take Action”.  Well, this is a chance to help lead your club in some fashion, by joining leaders, hearing ideas from other clubs, and taking them back to your own club.  In the process, you may well help another Rotary club by explaining how your club does something that they find interesting.  In short, this is not a chance to sit on your rear and listen to speaker after speaker.  It’s a chance to talk with others in a structured session, and then rotate to two more similar sessions with different people.  At the end of the session, we will have about a half hour to “shop” as you review many ideas from other tables you might not have heard, but you can read them off posters, and if necessary get a quick explanation, and take them back to your club.

ColoniALE Fest '17

It's time again for the 7th annual ColoniALE Fest, a beer & wine tasting event that benefits the Colonial Club Senior Center, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves older adults and their families throughout northeast Dane County, Wisconsin.

There will be over 60 different types of beer featuring everything from porters to IPA, from beer makers in Wisconsin and around the world. Special guest will be The Beer Baron from the Wisconsin State Journal. He will lead three short informational sessions about beers and things to look for when sampling. Another special addition is the continued presence of the Sun Prairie Wort Hogs, our local home brew organization. Sample some of their creations and learn about brewing beer. For the non-beer drinker in the crowd, we will be sampling a variety of great wines as well.

Ticket prices include free food. Designated driver tickets are also available, as well as free overnight parking and free trips home within the City of Sun Prairie.

The Character Challenge

Often we ask others how they are simply out of habit. It can also be easy to respond to that same question without actually thinking before we answer. Next time someone asks how you're doing, ask yourself that question again, and answer honestly. If you ask that of a friend, try asking them again with sincerity. A "How are you, really?" can go a long way.
