The City of Sun Prairie and the Sun Prairie Rotary Club got a head start on Arbor Day (officially April 29th) this morning. Mayor Paul Esser and Rotary President Rose Freidel led the planting ceremony of two new trees in Orfan Park to honor long term Rotary members Deb Fox-Schroeder and Susan Halambeck.
Our guest speaker on Tuesday was the legend, Mike Leckrone. Mike has been the director of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band since 1969. He told us stories about music, the band, and leadership. He was fun, energetic, and a great speaker.
With the weather getting nice, it is time to start thinking about the golf outing! We have a meeting planned for Wednesday April 27th at 1:00 at the Oaks.
It will be a short meeting to divide up the tasks for the golf outing among the people willing to help out.
Sun Prairie Rotary initiated the Sun Prairie's Service Above Self Awards in 2001. Criteria utilizes Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self and the Four Way Test. Rotary’s motto, Service above Self exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s members. Strong fellowship among Rotarians and meaningful community and international service projects characterize Rotary worldwide. Rotarian’s nominate individuals in the community who exemplify the principles. The last few years we have nominated one high school student.
