Our guest speaker for December 23 was Peter Curran, Executive Director of Sunshine Place.  Peter gave an overview of the year and general information about Sunshine Place. The Sunshine Place is 100% donor funded and provides essential services such and food and clothing from a single location.   Although Sunshine Place was short of it's season of giving fundraising goal of $30K, it was still a successful year.  Peter provided the following statistics:
  • 2100 households were served by the food pantry
  • 125 guests were the average at the Sunshine Supper
  • 80 beds were given to kids who were sleeping on floors
  • 1200 children received gifts from the Spirit of Giving program
  • and 1000 children received backpacks filled with school supplies

The application is in the downloads section of the sunprairirerotary.org website and was also emailed to all Sun Prairie Rotarians.  Please pass this information to an organization who might be interested.
  • Every Rotarian Every Year is the Rotary International campaign to raise $100 per Rotarian to donate to International and to be applied to grants for community service projects.  Once a Rotarian reaches $1000 in giving, he or she is presented with a Paul Harris fellow.

  • Sue Halambeck will be going to Tomah for a District 6250 grant writing seminar on January 25. Sue is now on the grants committee and asked for a SP Rotarian to volunteer  to attend, which is a requirement of the District 6250 if our club applies for a district grant. Talk to Sue if you are interested in riding along.
  • Mark your calendars for the District conference will be May 15 thru 17 at the Paper Valley Resort and Convention Center in Appleton, WI.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary, the district and network with fellow Rotarians.
