Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Steve Riggles, past president for the Sun Prairie Rotary Foundation, was our guest speaker this past week.  Steve updated the  membership on the Foundation budget and purpose.  Income raised from fundraisers such as the Pancake breakfast, Golf outing and the Taste of Madison provide the majority of the giving budget.  Projects funded through the Foundation include scholarships for Sun Prairie high school seniors, Sun Prairians involved in Children's Education (SPICE), the Kindness Retreats which are part of the SP Rotary Ethics initiative, and paying for two Sunshine Suppers.  There is also money available for an international project.  The Foundation board agreed to help support the Waunakee Rotary SOAR Kenya irrigation project. Additional checks were presented to the YMCA for their healthy eating initiative and the Sunshine Legal Clinic.   The SP Rotary Foundation Board for 2014/2015:

President - Sara Kirkman
Past President - Steve Riggles
Director - Laura Jennings
Director - Sue Halambeck
Treasurer - Debbie Fox-Schroeder

Sue Halambeck has taken the open position left by past president Nick Voegeli, who resigned this past November. For a copy of the budget, contact Sara or Debbie Fox-Schroeder.

Other news:
  • Gas cards make a great stocking stuffer!  Get yours at the meeting tomorrow!
  • President Laurie Krueger is looking for a volunteer to help at the Farm Expo, which will be in Sun Prairie this summer.
  • Sue Halambeck will be going to Tomah for a District 6250 grant writing seminar on January 25. Sue is now on the grants committee and asked for a SP Rotarian to volunteer  to attend, which is a requirement of the District 6250 if our club applies for a district grant. Talk to Sue if you are interested in riding along.
  • Mark your calendars for the District conference will be May 15 thru 17 at the Paper Valley Resort and Convention Center in Appleton, WI.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary, the district and network with fellow Rotarians.
See you tomorrow!
